  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 small box instant vanilla pudding
  • 2 cups milk
  • 8 oz container Cool Whip
  • Sprinkles
  • Chocolate balls wrapped like eyes
  • Gummy body parts like brains, teeth, fingers, etc.
  • Any decorations you like

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, blend together chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a rack.
  4. In another bowl, whisk instant vanilla pudding mix with milk until smooth; refrigerate for about 10 minutes to set.
  5. Cut cooled cake into circles smaller than your trifle dish rim.
  6. Layer cake pieces in the dish followed by pudding and whipped topping; repeat layers as desired.
  7. Decorate with sprinkles and spooky candies before serving.
